| HELPFUL HINTS FOR TRAVELING AND CARING FOR
YOUR KELSO COVERS |
|
Never check your dance dress or gear into
checked luggage prior to competition.
If your luggage is lost, you don’t dance!
If you’re part of a team and your gear
is gone, your team doesn’t dance. Carry
on all dance necessities!
You should be able to carry on your dress
bag. If TSA or gate agent asks you to
check-in your dress bag, assure them with
a smile that you and many others have carried
Irish dance dresses on before and never had
a problem. Tell them it’s an Irish dance
dress, the price of the dress and that it
cannot be bent. Be polite but firm.
At worst case, ask that the bag be gate-checked.
Once on board, if there are other dancers,
you can stack the bags in the overhead bin.
This saves space and protects dresses
from having a heavy bag thrown carelessly
on top by an unwary passenger.
On MD-80 jets your dress bag will fit better
in the overhead bin on the DEF side since
the bins are deeper. |

| Rosemarie your sleeve/ full dress muslin
covers
are a
life saver inside of the travel
bags.
They
help prevent the fabric from rubbing
on itself
causing
snags/ dents in the nap
etc...
Well
worth it to protect the delicate
dresses.

When storing dress in garment bag make sure
bag is unzipped. You want air to circulate
the bag. Then throw a sheet over it to keep
dust of dress and bag. ALWAYS AIR OUT DRESS
BEFORE STORING IN GARMENT BAG. No matter
the age of the child. They all sweat. Should
store flat (I've been told. Always listen
to dressmaker or teacher. They know more
than me.

HUGE fan of keeping dryer sheets in the under
arm area (and if kept laying flat - one inside
the bodice/skirt piece -- Keeps it nice and
fresh
Also storing
dress with
Odor-Eaters inside.
Just be careful...some
of the oils
used in
these products
can stain dress
fabrics.
